Sara is 24 years old and from Sisimiut, but she is currently living in Aarhus to study psychology where she just finished her bachelor’s degree. Her interest in psychology started back when she was around 12-13 years old where she made a school project about mental illnesses, inspired by a folder about schizophrenia she had read. Her interest has only grown during her studies, and she is hoping to be able to help people and maybe be able to spread awareness about mental illnesses.
“In my bachelor thesis I decided to explore the concept of suicide among Inuit, which really caught my interest, and I am hoping to further expand this in my master thesis and focus on some of the psychological societal problems we face in Greenland.“
During her bachelor’s degrees she has gained skills in writing and understanding research reports and has dealt with a wide range of psychological topics such as developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, clinical psychology and much more. After her current semester (7th) she will also have gained skills in intervention and testing and assessing in affective disorders.
In her spare time Sara work as a volunteer in “Studenterrådgivningen/Center for National Vejledning” (student counselling) in Nuuk, where she has therapy sessions with clients. Besides that she love knitting, beading and dogsledding and outdoor activities whenever she’s home in Sisimiut.
